Miss Lou (The Hon. Louise Simone Bennett-Coverly) is a popular Jamaican folklorist and poet. Many poems and songs are good expressions of Jamaican culture with the use of patois. Patois is English modified into a more culturally rich, native Jamaican language. Even when simply browsing a dictionary, the language itself can be very interesting and distinct rules and patterns can be detected and identified. Included below are links to patois dictionaries and others are available online. There are also many places on the internet (you tube and others) where audio files can be found for listening.
